How commissions are calculated
Commission is calculated on what a referred account actually pays Zippykind, not on the invoice amount at signup. The rate and term for your referral are set when your application is approved and are shown in your dashboard.
Holding period
A new commission is held for 60 days after the referred account's payment before it is released to your available balance. This covers the window in which that payment can normally be refunded, cancelled or charged back. You will see it marked as in hold in your dashboard during this period.
Clawbacks
If a customer you referred is refunded, has a payment reversed, or cancels in a way that would have disqualified the earnings, we may reverse the related commission. This applies whether the commission has already been released or is still in the holding period, and it applies to a commission from any point in that customer's active term, not only their first payment.
Negative balances
If a clawback happens after we have already paid you for that commission, and you do not have enough upcoming commission to cover it, your account balance goes negative. A negative balance is deducted from your next payout automatically. We do not send it to collections and it does not accrue interest.
Rolling reserve
For an account with an unusually high refund or chargeback rate, we may hold back a percentage of new commissions for a period before release, instead of releasing them on the normal schedule. This is a protective measure, not a penalty, and it is lifted once the account's refund rate returns to normal.
Direct invoicing
In rare cases, such as a large refund or a closed account with a negative balance we cannot recover automatically, we may invoice you directly for the amount owed. This will always come with an explanation of the referral and commission it relates to.
Payout timing and method
Commissions are paid out once your available balance clears the program minimum, on the payout schedule set for your account. We currently pay out manually; other channels may be offered as they become available, and you will be told which one applies to you.
Fraud and self-referrals
Referring yourself, your own company, or an account you control does not earn commission, and doing so is grounds for removal from the program with any pending commissions forfeited. The same applies to any attempt to manufacture signups or payments that do not represent a real referred business.
Account suspension and closure
We may suspend or close a partner account for a violation of these terms, for fraud, or for an extended period of inactivity. An account closed in good standing is paid out any remaining cleared balance; an account closed for violating these terms may forfeit unpaid commissions.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms going forward. A referral already in its term keeps the terms it was made under; a change applies only to referrals made after the change, not retroactively.
Disputes
If you believe a clawback, hold or invoice was made in error, contact your Zippykind partner manager with the referral or commission in question and we will review it by hand.
